Atkins serves a broad range of sectors, including defence, aerospace, communications, water environment, energy, buildings, urban development and more.
At the core of the Atkins philosophy is the importance we put on innovation. By continuing to build on existing technologies, we can incorporate emerging technologies that our internal team put forward based on their expertise and creativity; our team is constantly developing new ideas and strategies, then executing on them effectively. Add to that the innovations that partners such as Vnetrix continue to provide, and that synergistic effect helps us be able to offer competitive solutions to benefit both our customers and our business.
A few years ago, we won an application hosting contract with a government agency, but when we looked at the requirements, we realised that we needed something much more scalable and flexible that would provide the uptime that the agency needed. Looking at the hosted cloud service that Vnetrix could provide, it seemed to be the right fit for what we needed as a solution for the agency.
Since first engaging with Vnetrix in 2010, our cloud implementation with Vnetrix has grown exponentially. We started with the hosted cloud service for the agency contract, then we deployed our own internal private cloud, and have managed to significantly reduce the number of physical servers by consolidating to the cloud setups.
The cloud services that Vnetrix provides have given us a significant amount of flexibility and ability to do more with less, which is a huge benefit to our business. By partnering with Vnetrix, we have been able to template our services and create appliances that use hardly any of the power of the infrastructure, but can quickly scale up on demand. We are now able to roll out services faster by simply taking the template and making it live, knowing that the service will be up and running quickly.
The cloud services we receive from Vnetrix have enabled us to shift the way we think about delivering services towards a software as a service model. The infrastructure enables us to focus on innovation, and provides the flexibility and scalability that we never would have had without the services that Vnetrix provides.
